Girondins come unstuck against Clermont [0-2]

The return of Ligue 1 was going well for the Girondins, until the last ten minutes... Bayo fired the visitors ahead in the 82nd minute, and Dossou sealed the deal in the dying seconds (90'). Bordeaux had the better of the first half, with Yacine Adli's early strike setting the tone (16'). The Girondins then had two goals disallowed for offside in quick succession (18' and 20').

Benoît Costil was on his usual, imperious form, blocking several dangerous shots in both halves. He pulled off a spectacular save to keep the scores level in the 50th minute, then stopped a close-range header ten minutes later. Back at the other end, Samuel Kalu forced an excellent save from Desmas. The Girondins threw themselves forward as time ticked away, but their efforts were in vain.
