A gutsy display in Marseille [2-2] !

Six minutes. In the space of 360 seconds, the Girondins turned this game around! Trailing 2-0 at the break, Bordeaux came back with a renewed sense of purpose in the second half. Vladimir Petkovic brought on Timothée Pembélé for his club debut, and six minutes later the young full back found the net (51').  That goal energised the Girondins, and the Mistral gave way to a chilly Atlantic breeze inside a packed Vélodrome. Six minutes later, Rémi Oudin's majestic strike flew past Mandanda and into the net (57'). Bordeaux looked to be in total control.

Those goals set the scene for a frantic finale. Balerdi saw red in the 88th minute for a heavy challenge on Sékou Mara. It was very nearly a perfect evening of football, but for the scare early on when Samuel Kalu was taken ill. Fortunately enough it was nothing too serious, and Kalu was able to play on until Rémi Oudin took his place as a precaution (14').  Those six minutes changed the game, but the Girondins demonstrated total commitment throughout. They kept their heads even when Under (34') and Payet (41') put the hosts ahead. A vital point for Bordeaux, and a great performance against our old rivals which will do wonders for morale.
