The game got off to a roaring start, with Melissa Herrera firing in the first shot on goal in the very first minute. Kristianstads responded with a long throw from Jónsdóttir (2’), who would prove to be the Swedes' most dangerous player throughout.

Nevertheless, the Girondines soon had things under control. After early chances for Claire Lavogez (5’) and Melissa Herrera (7’), Bordeaux soon found the break they had been looking for. Katja Snoeijs made an irresistible break down the left flank, slipping past her opposite number to fire in a cross which Melissa Herrera smashed home with a left-footed volley, her first goal for the club (1-0, 9’).

When Bordeaux won a corner just a few minutes later, Maëlle Garbino picked out Vanessa Gilles who smashed her header into the top corner (2-0, 20’). Patrice Lair's team were well worth this early lead, having been the most threatening of the two sides as well as the most ruthless in front of goal.

But Kristianstads had their moments too, and Summanen forced a fine save from Anna Moorhouse from a set piece (15’). They soon reduced the gap with one of their signature long throws, eventually finding a breach in the Girondines' defence and allowing Mia Carlsson to score from a scuffle inside the box (2-1, 26’).

Reinvigorated by this goal, the locals pushed forward while Bordeaux held on as best they could. Patrice Lair decided it was time to send on Ella Palis to replace Malia Berkely (38’), a move which soon paid off as Bordeaux perked up and began to take back control of the game. Some well-judged pressing from Melissa Herrera allowed Inès Jauréna to retrieve the ball 30 metres from goal. Her cross found Katja Snoeijs, who left goalkeeper Maron no chance (3-1, 42’).

Bordeaux started the second half strongly, with chances for both Maëlle Garbino (47’) and Katja Snoeijs (49’). But the tempo soon dropped, with both sides feeling the effects of tough games just a few days previously. To their credit, Bordeaux held onto their lead with a great deal of maturity.

With time ticking away, Kristianstads threw everything they had at the Girondines. The chances kept coming, but neither Nilsson (72’), Åsland (84’) nor Jónsdóttir (85’) was able to change the course of the match.
