Toma Basic joins Lazio

Born in November 1996 in Zagreb (Croatia), Toma started out with NK Rudes before signing for HNK Hajduk Split.  The midfield playmaker joined Bordeaux in the summer of 2018, staking out a place in the starting line-up and scoring his first goal against Dijon in the league cup (1-0). He scored his first Ligue 1 goal in February 2019 in the Garonne Derby. Bordeaux won that game 2-1.

In the three years he has spent with the club, Toma has developed considerably. He earned his first full international cap for Croatia in late 2020 in a friendly with Turkey (3-3). With the Girondins, he racked up 82 appearances, 9 goals and 5 assists. Toma is now ready for the next chapter in his career: Serie A. We are happy to have played a role in his development, and thank him for all that he has brought to the Club. Toma will be fondly remembered in Bordeaux, and we wish him all the very best in the città eterna.
