An emphatic victory [6-0]

It took less than two minutes for the Girondines to set the tone for this game. From the kick-off they had been on the offensive, and within 120 seconds Sisca Folkertsma connected with a cross from Katja Snoeijs to fire Bordeaux into the lead (1-0). The Girondines certainly had no intention of sitting back and defending their lead. The chances kept coming, with Maëlle Garbino (3’), Katja Snoeijs (8’) and Melissa Gomes (15’) all coming close.

The breakthrough finally came courtesy of Malia Berkely, who recovered the ball, played a smart one-two with Katja Snoeijs on the edge of the box and then, seemingly effortlessly, smashed the ball into the back of the net (29’, 2-0).

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors, as Andréa Lardez lobbed the keeper for Bordeaux's third (35’) before Melissa Gomes pounced on a poor clearance by Munich to make it four (43’). 4-0 to the Girondines at half time, and it could easily have been more.

The Girondines eased off somewhat in the second half, with both sides making a slew of changes. Amongst them was Marion Haelewyn, making her D1 debut for the Girondines. Bordeaux were still utterly dominant, and both Julie Dufour (54’) and Katja Snoeijs (61’) had chances to add to the tally. Finally it was sub Mickaëlla Cardia who got the fifth goal, firing a superb shot past the keeper from yet another Katja Snoeijs assist (79’).

Fittingly enough, it was Katja Snoeijs herself who got the last goal of the game. Having already provided three assists, she scored one for herself in the 82nd minute. The assist for that goal came from Marine Perea, making her first appearance of the season. Bordeaux celebrated their first home game of the season with a thumping victory - a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the crucial showdown with Wolfsburg this Wednesday!
