Girondines lose out to Fleury (1-2)

Sunday 12 September 2021 was an afternoon to forget for Bordeaux fans: as the men's team suffered a late defeat at the hands of Lens, the women suffered a similar fate. And yet, it all started so well. In the 3rd minute, Bordeaux won a penalty which Katja Snoeijs calmly converted. Early in the second half Clair Lavogez thought she had scored the Girondines' second (50'), only for the goal to be disallowed for handball. Towards the end, the physical and mental toll of Wednesday's epic game against Wolfsburg began to make itself felt. Julie Piga equalised for the visitors (83'), then Dominika Grabowska scored the winner - also from the penalty spot (88e). A first league defeat of the season for the girls, who will now be taking a much-needed break before facing Issy away in two weeks' time.
