The Girondins endured a torrid time in Monaco, with Tchouameni (34'), Golovin (47') and Ben Yedder (63' pen) getting the goals in an emphatic 3-0 win for the hosts.
Bordeaux had looked promising for spells in the first half, but there was no denying that Monaco had the cutting edge. The Girondins threw everything they had at the hosts' defence, but it was simply not to be.

Ex-Bordeaux man Aurélien Tchouameni opened the scoring in the first half (34'), and had the good grace not to celebrate his goal. But he set the tone for what was to come nonetheless. Perhaps the tone had already been set earlier on, when Timothée Pembélé saw his shot cleared off the line (18'). Benoît Costil then pulled off an excellent save at the other end to deny Tchouameni... for the time being (29'). Aside from the goal, the first half was largely uneventful and the game still looked wide open at the break.
But things changed immediately after the restart, when Golovin fired in Monaco's second (47'). The Girondins suddenly had a mountain to climb, and they never really looked like making it. Things went from bad to worse when Ben Yedder scored from the penalty spot shortly afterwards (63').

The scoreline remained unchanged for the rest of the game, as Monaco calmly played out a game which they had dominated at a canter.
