The Girondins endured a rough evening at the Meinau at the hands of RC Strasbourg (5-2). Ui-Jo Hwang fired Bordeaux ahead early on (6'), only to see the hosts fire in five goals courtesy of Thomasson (21'), Gameiro (42' pen), Ajorque (45', 64') and Liénard (47'). Alberth Elis got one more for the Girondins (56'). The game seemed to have got off to the best possible start for Bordeaux, with Ui-Jo Hwang firing in his fifth goal of the season from the first opportunity of the game (6', 0-1). But despite taking the lead, the Girondins were soon under the cosh. Despite some promising moments from Enock Kwateng (29') and Rémi Oudin (38'), Strasbourg dominated. Thomasson got the equaliser (21', 1-1), then a few minutes before the break Gameiro put the hosts into the lead from the penalty spot (42', 2-1). Worse still, Ajorque made it three in the final minute of the first half (45', 3-1).

Strasbourg picked up where they left off, with Liénard adding a fourth immediately after the restart (47', 4-1). The Girondins looked shell-shocked. And yet, they tried their best to level the scores. Alberth Elis pulled one back shortly before the hour mark (56', 4-2). Benoît Costil pulled off a big save to keep our hopes alive (60'), only for Rémi Oudin to miss the target shortly afterwards (62').  Ajorque added insult to injury with Strasbourg's fifth a few minutes later (64', 5-2). Game over. The Girondins had just one more chance, which fell to Mbaye Niang, but his shot was off-target (90+1).
