Knocked out by Lyon [0-4]

The Girondines crashed out of the Coupe de France with defeat at the hands of Lyon (0-4). It was all over by half time, with goals from Renard (13', 30'), Maroszan (24') and Hegerberg (26') putting the game to bed in the first period.   Bordeaux fought hard, but Lyon were just too good. Renard got the first goal from a corner (13'), and ten minutes later Maroszan made it two with a superb long-range strike (24'). The Girondines looked dazed.  

Two minutes later, Hegerberg put the champions definitively out of reach (26'), then Renard scored from the penalty spot to raise fears of a historic rout (30'). What would the second half have in store after this opening?   But the second period was markedly different, with Bordeaux creating more chances and conceding no more goals. Andréa Lardez pulled off a great save in the 50th minute which boosted the whole team.

There were more chance to come, with Le Sommer hitting the crossbar (60') and Melissa Gomes coming close with a scorching volley (69'). Maëlle Garbino was a constant menace to the Lyon defence, and both Ella Palis (75') and Katja Snoeijs (80') had decent shots on target. Ambre Baeer-Drunet, Julia Roux and Mylène Chavas came on as late substitutes, but the scoreline remained unchanged. Bordeaux are out of the Coupe de France for this year.
