Back-to-back wins in D1 [0-2]

Bordeaux got off the best possible start in this game! Eve Périsset broke free down the left flank and fired in a cross for Katja Snoeijs. The Dutch international dinked the ball past the Guingamp keeper and smashed home from close range to give the Girondines an early lead (3’, 0-1) with her 8th league goal of the season. The hosts were stung, and fought back hard over the next fifteen minutes or so. They saw one headed effort pass just wide (19’), shortly followed by a free kick which scraped just over the bar (21’).

The Girondines weathered that storm, and in fact came close to doubling their lead before the break. Unfortunately, Claire Lavogez's shot flew wide (42’). Bordeaux created a flurry of chances before half-time, and the Guingamp keeper kept the hosts in the game with stops to deny both Mélissa Gomes and Claire Lavogez (45’).

The second half was much like the first, with Bordeaux searching for a second goal while Guingamp threw themselves relentlessly in search of an equaliser. The home keeper produced a series of fine saves to keep out Mélissa Herrera (54’), Maëlle Garbino (79’) and Julie Thibaud (81’). Back at the other end, Mylène Chavas dived well to turn away an effort from Sarah Cambot (65’) before Louise Fleury pinged one off the woodwork (72’).

Neither team seemed able to make the breakthrough, and the game seemed destined to be settled by that early goal until Eve Périsset sealed the deal with a sublime stoppage-time strike (90+2’, 0-2). Patrice Lair's side were 2-0 winners in Guingamp in this delayed fixture from the 12th round of D1 games. The Girondines' next league outing will be another away trip next Sunday 6 February, this time a daunting clash with high-flying Lyon.
