Josuha Guilavogui signs for Bordeaux !

Josuha Guilavogui was born in September 1990 in Ollioules (Var), where he started his footballing career before moving to Sporting Club de Toulon. He spent a few years in the Toulon academy before being snapped up by AS Saint-Etienne. Josuha moved up through the ranks with Les Verts, and made his professional debut in a Coupe de France match against… Bordeaux (0-1). He made his Ligue 1debut the following season in a victory over Sochaux.

Josuha became a first-team fixture in the 2009-2010 season, and remained a Saint-Etienne stalwart until 2013-2014. He won the League Cup with Les Verts (2013) and also made his Europa League debut, racking up a total of 120 appearances for ASSE (9 goals, 7 assists). Josuha then made the move to Spain to take on a massive new challenge at Atlético Madrid. He made seven appearances for Atlético, including two in the Champions League, but found himself frustrated by a lack of game time and spent the second half of the season on loan back at Saint-Etienne. He nevertheless picked up a La Liga winner's medal in 2014.

In the summer of 2014 it was time for another challenge elsewhere in Europe, this time with Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg. In Wolfsburg, Josuha soon established himself as a key player, and over the course of seven eventful years in Germany he has seen it all: from the Champions League (14 matches) to relegation battles, to victory  in the German Cup (2015). Throughout it all he was a lynchpin of the team, racking up 239 appearances (11 goals, 6 assists).

Having represeneted France at U18, U19 and U21 levels (31 caps, 4 goals), Josuha also won seven senior caps with Les Bleus between 2013 and 2015. He is a first class defensive midfielder with an immense natural gift. He is an effective playmaker, a formidable presence in the air, a tireless tackler and an attacking asset to boot.
