In their 23rd outing of the Ligue 1 season, Vladimir Petkovic's side travelled to face Stade de Reims.  The first half was a lively affair, with chances for both sides. Bordeaux had a great opportunity in the 15th minute, and Gaëtan Poussin produced a fine save at the other end (36’). Shortly before half time, the referee awarded what looked to be a very soft penalty to the hosts. Gaëtan Poussin saved Hugo Ekitike's shot, only for the striker to follow up his run and smash the loose ball into the net (40’, 0-1).

Immediately after the break Marshall Munetsi, doubled Reims' lead from a corner (46’, 2-0). Gaëtan Poussin's goal was soon under asault again, with Azor Matusiwa next on the score sheet (59’, 3-0). Just a few minutes later, Wout Felix Lina Faes made it four (63’, 4-0). Things got even worse for Bordeaux when new recruit Danylo Ignatenko was shown a red card only minutes after coming on as a substitute (72’). Reims were cruising by now, adding insult to injury with another goal from Munetsi Marshall (76’, 5-0). Bordeaux suffered a total collapse in Reims this afternoon, in a game they'll be keen to forget. The Girondins will be back in action next Sunday 13 February 2022, taking on Lens at Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Kick-off is at 17:05.
