The sun shone down on Stade Sainte-Germaine as Bordeaux Women prepared to welcome ASSE. The Girondines certainly seemed to enjoy the perfect playing conditions, starting brightly and setting up camp in the visitors' half of the field. Claire Lavogez (14’), Jelena Karlicic (20’) and Katja Snoeijs (25’) all tested the Saint-Etienne keeper with early attempts on goal.

The breakthrough finally came courtesy of Claire Lavogez in the 33rd minute: connecting with a well-placed long ball, she shrugged off the keeper with grace and poise before slotting the ball into the open goal (1-0).

The Girondines continued to dominate, and Katja Snoeijs came within a whisker of doubling Bordeaux's lead just before the break (43’). But her shot sneaked just wide, and the scoreline remained 1-0 at half time.

Melissa Herrera came on for the second half, and made an immediate impact. Terrorising the ASSE defence down the right flank, it took her just eight minutes to double Bordeaux's lead! Finding herself in space at the back post, she fired off a rocket of a shot which lodged itself in the top corner (2-0, 53’).

As time went on, the Girondines became ever more dominant. Mylène Chavas did have the occasional save to make (60’), but she was never really tested. Fiona Liaigre came on as a late sub for Bordeaux, making her D1 debut. The game seemed destined to end 2-0, until Maëlle Garbino popped up in injury time to add a final flourish! Breaking free down the left wing, she cut inside and fired the ball past Burns to make it three (3-0, 90’+1).
