In their 26th outing of the Ligue 1 season, David Guion's side travelled to face Clermont Foot 63.  The Girondins started brightly, pushing forward and creating some promising opportunities. Keeper Gaëtan Poussin was also busy early on (1’, 5’), as Bordeaux battled for supremacy in the midfield.

Bordeaux's first proper chance on goal came in the tenth minute, but it was the second that made the difference: with 13 minutes on the clock, captain Josuha Guilavogui connected with Yacine Adli's corner to head the Girondins into the lead (13’, 0-1).  Clermont were stung and looked to respond immediately, but Gaëtan Poussin pulled off two excellent saves in quick succession. Alas, it was third time lucky for Pascal Gastien's side as Rashani finally managed to get the better of Poussin (32’, 1-1). The Girondins maintained the high tempo into the second half, with Yacine Adli once again coming close (54’). At the other end, Gaëtan Poussin was on fine form and his defence was well-marshalled. Stian Gregersen cleared off the line to keep Bordeaux in the game (65’).

The Girondins were under severe pressure in the final minutes, but a solid defensive performance saw them come away with a crucial point (1-1). This was a highly encouraging display from the boys in blue, with the only point of concern being the injury to Tom Lacoux, who limped off in the second half (81’). The Girondins will be back in action next Sunday 6 March, with an all-important game against relegation rivals Troyes at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE.
