After a minute of applause in commemoration of the late Gilbert Moevi, Bordeaux's 27th outing of the Ligue 1 season got underway at the Matmut Atlantique. Bordeaux started very well, battling hard in midfield and causing problems for Bruno Irles' side, particularly when Timothée Pembélé created the first chance of the match (6’). After a foul just on the edge of the penalty area, referee Ruddy Buquet decided to award a penalty to the visitors. Gaëtan Poussin could not quite get it away, and Troyes took the lead. (27’, 0-1). Both sides continued to duke it out in midfield for the rest of the first half, but the Girondins saw no reward for their hard work.

The second half got off to an intense start, with two chances in quick succession for half-time sub Alberth Elis (48’, 49’),followed by a Rémi Oudin shot which scraped just over the bar (50’). Bordeaux captain Josuha Guilavogui  almost sneaked one past Troyes keeper Gallon, but not quite (79’). A foul on Fransergio (84’) saw the referee award another penalty to Troyes, allowing Mothiba to put the game to bed (85’, 0-2). The Girondins were relentless in their efforts to close the gap, but unfortunately David Guion's side were left ruing missed chances and another home defeat (0-2).
