Bordeaux soundly beaten by PSG [3-0]

The atmosphere at Parc des Princes was bizarre this afternoon, following PSG's elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid last Wednesday (3-1). The home fans expressed their disappointment with their team, while the loudest cheers of encouragement came from the Girondins supporters in the away end. Bordeaux started well, creating early chances for Rémi Oudin and Junior Onana (1’, 2’). Both teams battled hard for control of the midfield in the first fifteen minutes. But with a team like PSG danger is never far away, and so it was that they scored from their very first chance on goal - courtesy of Kylian Mbappé (23’, 1-0). Bordeaux looked to hit back immediately, and Rémi Oudin had two decent chances (31, 34’) but could not beat the ever-alert Keylor Navas.

It was one-nil to the hosts at half time, but things soon got worse after the break. Hakimi teed up Neymar for a goal which left Gaëtan Poussin stranded (52’, 2-0). A few minutes later, Mbappé ran up against the Bordeaux defence and the ball rebounded for Paredes. The Argentina international shrugged off his man to fire a left-footed rocket into the top corner (61’, 3-0). The last chance of the game fell to Mbaye Niang, but Navas had it covered. David Guion's side were soundly beaten at the Parc des Princes this afternoon. The Girondins' next game is a crucial home tie with Montpellier, next Sunday at 3pm at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE.
