Beaten in Angers [4-1]

The Girondins suffered another heavy defeat in Angers (4-1). Cho (4'), Mendy (35'), Bahoken (61') and Pereira Lage (90') scored for the hosts, with Sékou Mara netting a consolation goal for Bordeaux (59'). With two games left to play, the Girondins are bottom of Ligue 1. The game got off to a nightmare start when Cho nabbed an early goal (1-0, 4'). The Girondins did their bast to fight back immediately, with Rémi Oudin seeing his shot blocked (11') and Mbaye Niang firing wide of the mark (17'). Benoît Costil pulled off an excellent save to deny Bentaleb (26'), but Mendy doubled the hosts' lead before half time (35'). At 2-0 down, Bordeaux had a mountain to climb in the second half.

Shortly before the hour mark, substitute Sékou Mara narrowed the gap with a powerful header (2-1, 59'). The Girondins were back in the game! Until... barely a minute later, Angers scored again. Bahoken powered home to restore the two-goal lead (3-1, 61'). It really could have been more, but Benoît Costil pulled off some truly spectacular saves (75' and 81'). Pereira Lage put the game to bed with one last goal in the final minute (4-1, 90'). Bordeaux end the day at the very bottom of the league table.
