Benoît Costil parts ways with Bordeaux

After five eventful seasons at the club, Benoît Costil is leaving the Girondins de Bordeaux. The goalkeeper's contract officially expires on 30 June. Born and raised in Caen, Benoît started his professional career with Stade Malherbe, making his L2 debut against Reims. He joined Bordeaux in time for the 2017-2018 season, helping the Girondins to a 6th place finish under the guidance of Gus Poyet. The next few seasons saw their share of ups and downs, but the goalkeeper was a solid and reliable presence throughout. A natural leader, Ben wore the captain's armband for 119 of his 182 appearances for the Girondins. At almost 35 years of age (his birthday is 3rd July), Benoît Costil is ready for a new footballing challenge. We wish him all the very best in the next chapter of his career.
