Jimmy Briand is leaving Bordeaux after four seasons in navy blue. Since joining in 2018 from Guingamp, the France international has made 116 competitive appearances for the Girondins, scoring 22 goals and delivering 8 assists. He also became a firm favourite of both the fans and the club staff. Jimmy's first goal for Bordeaux came at a crucial game, in a crunch match with Gendt which the Girondins needed to win in order to secure qualification to the UEFA Europa League. Jimmy smashed home a penalty to make it 2-0 and send the Girondins into the group stages.

Throughout his four years at the club, the No. 7 has risen to the occasion for big games such as the memorable 2-2 draw with PSG in the 2018-19) season, the victory over Saint-Etienne that same year (3-2) and a satisfying away win at old rivals Nantes (0-1, 2019-20). In terms of personal milestones, the veteran striker scored his 100th Ligue 1 goal against Nîmes (2-0, 2020-2021). One of the rare good memories from last season remains Jimmy's brace against Reims (3-2). Having played at Rennes (211 appearances, 43 goals), Lyon (160 appearances, 34 goals), Hanover (30 appearances, 3 goals) and Guingamp (118 appearances, 32 goals), Jimmy Briand's experience and goalscoring instincts have been valuable additions to the Girondins squad over the past four years.

Match Bordeaux - Reims
Corps de texte
Here in Bordeaux, Jimmy will be remembered as a consummate professional who put his considerable talents to work for the team. A discreet presence in day-to-day life, he was never afraid to speak up in the dressing room or lend a hand to younger members of the squad. The Girondins de Bordeaux would like to thank Jimmy for everything he has done, and wish him all the best for the future.
