Yoann Barbet, back in Bordeaux!

Eight years later, Yoann Barbet is coming back to Bordeaux! Out of contract with his most recent club, the central defender has signed a three-year deal with the Girondins (until June 2025). Born in May 1993 in Libourne, Yoann played for local sides Mouliets, Saint-Pey-de-Castets and Vallée de Gamage before joining the Girondins Academy in 2007, at the age of 14. Over the next seven years, he progressed through the ranks with the club's youth sides.

Yoann eventually turned professional with Chamois Niortais, impressing in his first full season in 2014-2015 (33 appearances, 2 goals). That summer he packed his bags and headed for England, where he would remain for the next seven years. In 2015 he joined Brentford, then in the Championship. During his four seasons with the Bees he featured in 118 matches in all competitions (7 goals, 4 assists), before moving across London to join Queens Park Rangers. He has been a stalwart of the QPR team for the past three years, making 121 appearances.

Now aged 29, the central defender is returning to his boyhood club armed with a wealth of professional experience. After 221 matches in the Championship, Yoann is well prepared to tackle the challenge of steering the Girondins back to the top flight. A solid header of the ball and adept at smart clearances, Yoann Barbet is an excellent addition to David Guion's squad.
