The pre-season campaign rolls on. The club was supposed to take part in the Challenge Emiliano Sala this weekend in honour of the Argentinean striker, but the withdrawal of a certain club who shall not be named forced the organisers to cancel the tournament at short notice.  The Girondins still honoured their commitment to play US Orléans, the first club Emi played for after arriving in France. After a minute of applause in honour of Sala's memory, the Girondins started brightly and Dilane Bakwa nearly nabbed an early goal (5'). Orléans soon had a decent chance of their own, but Rafal Straczek did well to catch the ball (14').

Minutes later Dilane Bakwa slipped his marker and charged goalwards, but his promising pass was cleared from the goalmouth (17'). The Girondins won a series of corners, but lacked precision in the final third.

Orléans seized on this sloppiness to take the lead, courtesy of an own goal by Johaneko Louis-Jean (1-0 29'). 10 minutes later Adrian Dabasse made it 2-0 to USO (38'). Bordeaux attempted to push back, but could not get the better of Orléans keeper Vincent Viot.

David Guion changed all 11 players at half time, but chances were still few and far between. Emilien Makagni soon found himself in an excellent position, but somehow sent his shot wide of the mark. The break finally came courtesy of a beautiful assist from Jacques Ekomié, allowing Emeric Depussay to narrow the gap (2-1 81'). That proved to be the last goal of the afternoon, as the Girondins slipped to defeat in their 3rd pre-season friendly. Next up: AS Saint-Etienne in Vichy, this Wednesday (20th July).
