Farewell message from Sékou Mara

"It's the end of an era, a time I will always look back on fondly. I want to thank the Girondins for all they have done to help me grow and become the player and the person I am now. Thank you to all of the coaches, the teachers, the players and the employees who I've worked with day after day over the past 5 years, and without whom I would not be where I am today. And I haven't forgotten the fans. Thank you for all the love and support you've given me over the past few seasons, which has also played a big role in my development. It leaves a bitter taste to be leaving the club in the current situation, but I am firmly convinced that the Girondins de Bordeaux will soon be back to their rightful place in French football. I also want to thank my family, my friend and my representatives, who have always looked out for me and supported me since the very beginning. I will never forget it. Bordeaux forever."
