Jacques Ekomié joins the pros

The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to announce that Jacques Ekomié is the latest graduate of the youth academy to turn professional. The 18-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal which will run until June 2025.

Born in 2003 in Libreville, Gabon, the young left back started out with FCE Mérignac Arlac and SA Mérignac. He joined the Girondins in January 2021 and has gone from strength to strength with the U19 and Reserve sides. Last season he made 22 appearances in National 3, and also made his first team debut in the Coupe de France game against Brest on 2 January 2022. In May 2022 he had the honour of being called up to the Gabon national side for the first time.

The promising wing back has been a key part of the pre-season preparations, featuring in all four friendlies. We are delighted that Jacques Ekomié has turned professional with us, and look forward to watching this talented youngster continue his progression over the coming seasons.
