Junior Mwanga signs his first professional contract

The Girondins de Bordeaux are very pleased to announce that Junior Mwanga has signed his first professional deal with the club. The 19 year-old is a product of our youth academy, and has agreed terms on a three-year professional contract which will keep him in Bordeaux until at least 2025.  

After starting out with his hometown club FC Lyon, Junior Mwanga arrived in Bordeaux in 2020 at the age of 17. He has spent the past two seasons with the U19s and the Reserves. He made a big impact last season in N3 with the Reserves, making 23 appearances and scoring 5 goals. Off the back of those performances, Junior Mwanga made his Ligue 1 debut on 21 May 2022 in Brest. He played 90 minutes that day, and put in a solid showing for his first maiden flight appearance.

Junior has taken full part in the 2022-2023 pre-season preparations, including the four friendlies. The Girondins de Bordeaux are thrilled that Junior Mwanga will be part of our team for years to come. We wish him every success in navy blue.
