A big win in Rodez [0-3]

Captained by the young Tom Lacoux, Bordeaux got off to a very strong start. Logan Delauriet-Chaubet fired the first warning shot against Rodez's bows in the second minute. David Guion's players were determined to take an early lead, and the hosts barely got a touch on the ball. Dilane Bakwa was untouchable on the left wing, and when his cross was deflected into the path of Danylo Ignatenko the Ukrainian international promptly smashed the ball into the net to score his first competitive goal for the Girondins. Bordeaux were 1-0 up after just 4 minutes. The Girondins kept pushing forward, and ten minutes later they launched a stinging counter-attack from their own box all the way to the other end. Josh Maja laid the ball off for Fransergio, who teed up Dilane Bakwa inside the box for Bordeaux's second goal (0-2 ; 14’) Two goals down after just 14 minutes, Rodez looked stunned. Their attempts to get themselves back into the game were easily dealt with by Gaëtan Poussin, and before long Pierre Bardy was sent off for a second bookable offence. Laurent Peylerade's side were down to ten men, with almost two-thirds of the game left to play (36’). At half-time, the Girondins looked to have this one in the bag.  

Neither side made any changes at half-time, but the second period started with some rare attacking opportunities for Rodez (48’ & 55’). The Girondins soon responded, and a strong free kick from Logan Delauriet-Chaubet saw Malcom Bokélé come within a whisker of scoring Bordeaux's third goal (61’). With time ticking away, Dilane Bakwa, also came close for Bordeaux (82'). Referee Ruddy Buquet signalled 4 minutes of added time, which proved to be just enough for one of Bordeaux's youngest talents to shine. Marvin De Lima made his first-team debut as a late sub, pouncing on the first chance that crossed his path to score the Girondins' third goal and get his professional career off to a dream start! Bordeaux were 3-0 winners in Rodez thanks to a masterful team performance. They end the day second in the league, awaiting other results. The Girondins' next game will be their Ligue 2 clash with Chamois Niortais, next Saturday (13th August) at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE, kick-off 19:00.
