Meet Aliou Badji, our new striker

Born in October 1997 in Ziguinchor (Senegal), Aliou Badji is an out-and-out striker. He started out with local club Casa Sports, representing the Casamance region in the national league. Aliou left Senegal for Europe in 2017, at the age of 19, signing for top Swedish side Djurgårdens IF. He started out with the U21s (17 appearances, 12 goals, 3 assists) before moving up to the first side. Over the next two seasons he scored 15 goals and provided 4 assists in 54 appearances for the club, winning the Swedish Cup in 2018 and making his Europa League debut (2 appearances, 2 goals).

These strong performances caught the eye of Austrian side Rapid Vienna, who signed him in February 2019. After a season in which he made 34 appearances for the club (9 goals, 3 assists) he was transferred to Egyptian side Al Ahly, one of the biggest clubs in Africa. His stats for 2019-2020 were positive (25 appearances, 4 goals, 8 assists) and the club piled up the silverware, winning the treble: league, cup and African Champions League (2020). The following season, Aliou was loaned to Ankaragücü (Turkey).

In 2021-2022, Aliou arrived in France. Loaned to Amiens SC, he played a full season in Ligue 2 BKT and scored 14 goals (plus 3 assists) in all competitions. Having signed for Amiens on a permanent basis earlier this summer, he has already played three times this season. Still just, Aliou has a wealth of footballing experience. His imposing stature makes him a natural header of the ball, but he also has all the technical finesse of a ruthless finisher, as witnessed by his 45 goals and 18 assists from 160 professional appearances.
