International results round-up

Mélissa Herrera and co were 2-1 winners over the Philippines on Tuesday 11 October. Mélissa Herrera came on at half time, with Costa Rica trailing by a goal to nil. The Philippines almost doubled their lead early in the second half, but missed a golden opportunity from the penalty spot. This miss seemed to energise the Costa Rica fightback, and Amelia Valverde's side soon equalised thanks to a penalty of their own, taken by Raquel Rodriguez (1-1 ; 64’). They then took the lead courtesy of Gloriana Villalobos. (2-1, 68’). The game ended 2-1 in their favour.

In their second friendly of this break, Corinne Diacre's side took on Sweden this Tuesday. The Swedes took the lead almost instantly courtesy of Filippa Angeldal. (1-0, 1’). Peter Gerhardsson's side extended their lead in the second half with goals from Amanda Ilestedt (2-0, 60’) and Madelen Janogy (3-0, 78’). France were reduced to ten players for the last fifteen minutes, after Aïssatou Tounkara was shown a red card.  Ella Palis came on as a late sub in the 79th minute, while Justine Lerond, Mylène Chavas and Julie Thibaud stayed on the bench this time round. The France team also featured some familiar faces, with several ex-Bordeaux stars on the pitch: Eve Périsset and Charlotte Bilbault played the full 90 minutes, while Vivianne Asseyi came on as a sub for Ouleymata Sarr.

In their final Euro U19 qualifier, Portugal breezed past Malta with a 5-0 thumping.  Inês Simas opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Maria Ferreira scored once in the first half and twice in the second to complete a superb hat trick (40', 80’ and 88’). Beatriz Nogueira (45’) also found the net. Serena Pinto De Queiros came on as a substitute in the 64th minute. Portugal finished second in qualifying group 7.
