Bordeaux back on top of Ligue 2 [1-1]

Tonight's draw in Bastia (1-1) sees the Girondins return to the top of Ligue 2. After a slow start the match kicked up several gears in the last ten minutes. Danylo Ignatenko gave Bordeaux the lead from a corner (83'), before Van Den Kerkhof equalised deep into added time (90+4). After a wild end to the game, Bordeaux ended the evening with an invaluable point! Now on 24 points, the Girondins are top of the table in front of a chasing pack comprising Le Havre, Sochaux and Amiens (all on 23 points). For a few minutes at least, the Girondins thought they had the three points in the bag. Issouf Sissokho lance picked out Zuriko Davitashvili on the flank, and the Georgian won a corner. Clément Michelin stepped up to take it, floating the ball onto the head of Danylo Ignatenko. With seven minutes left to play, Bordeaux looked to have done the hard work (83', 0-1). But there was more drama to come in stoppage time, when Bastia won a free kick on the edge of the box, directly in front of Gaëtan Poussin's goal. Van Den Kerkhof produced a sublime strike to equalise, finally giving the hosts something to cheer about on the evening they celebrated the 90th anniversary of Stade Armand-Cesari (90+4, 1-1). This was a tightly-fought contest, and Bordeaux faced up to the challenge admirably. Dilan Bakwa had a decent chance in the 19th minute, but other than that shots on goal were few and far between - until the unexpectedly frantic final minutes. Bordeaux return from Bastia with a point, and are once again top of Ligue 2.
