Girondins cruise through to the next round! [0-3]

The atmosphere was thoroughly festival at Le Bouscat's Stade Sainte Germaine, with the crowd fired up for a true cup derby: two Bordeaux teams going head-to-head for a place in the next round. Alberth Elis had the Girondins' first shot on goal in the 14th minute, slamming the ball into the net only to see the goal ruled out for offside. With Stade Bordelais defending deep, Bordeaux had to work hard for their chances. They nevertheless came close to breaking the deadlock thanks to long-range efforts from Fransergio (31’) and Alberth Elis (42’). Just before the break, Zuriko Davitashvili rattled one off the left post!

Shortly after half-time Stade Bordelais had a chance of their own, but Junior Mwanga did well to clear the danger (47’). Soo enough the Girondins made their superiority felt. When Zuriko Davitashvili was hauled down inside the box, he took the penalty himself and sent the keeper the wrong way (55’, 0-1). Barely a minute later, Clément Michelin fired his shot onto the crossbar and watched as it rebounded just in front of the goal line. Rafal Straczek then produced a truly excellent save to keep Stade Bordelais in the game, diving at full stretch to tip the ball away (61’).

In the final 20 minutes, David Guion's team kicked up a gear to get the job done. Capping off a superb collective movement, Dilane Bakwa neatly backheeled the ball for Yoann Barbet to double the lead (72’, 0-2). With the final whistle fast approaching, Logan Delaurier-Chaubet scored the Girondins' third with an excellent shot which scraped just under the crossbar (84’, 0-3).

The Girondins are through to the next round of the Coupe de France, where they will face Trélissac FC on 19th or 20th November.
