Bordeaux edge past Trélissac [2-3]

Oh the magic of the cup! Depite trailing 2-0 at the break to their lower-league opponents, the Girondins fought back to qualify for the next round of the Coupe de France ! Yoann Barbet (62' and 90+3') and Aliou Badji (64') cancelled out the first-half goals from Gouache (27') and Diakité (30'), before our captain rose to the occasion and headed home a blazing equalizer in injury time! The joy and relief on the pitch was visible at the final whistle, and among the 400 Ultramarines who had made the trip too. Yoann Barbet sealed qualification with a superb header from a corner, in the dying seconds of the game (90+3').

Bordeaux had thoroughly dominated the second half already, with Yoann Barbet getting our first goal from another corner (62', 2-1) and lighting a fire under the Girondins. Barely two minutes later Aliou Badji levelled the scores (64', 2-2). Keeper Rafal Straczek then made a crucial save in the 65th minute.

Trélissac were a very different proposition in the first half, when Gouache capped off a fine team move to fire the visitors ahead (27', 1-0). Three minutes later Diakité doubled that lead (30', 2-0), and the minnows went in for half-time with their dreams of a cup upset well and truly alive.

Bordeaux came good in the end though, just as the game looked to be headed to penalties. The Girondins will play in the next round, scheduled for January 2023 after the World Cup. The whole Bordeaux staff and family would like to thank Périgueux and Trélissac for their warm welcome this weekend.
