The Girondins beat Sochaux by two goals to one in their 17ht outing of the Ligue 2 season. Josh Maja (30') and Zuriko Davitashvili (32') got the goals for Bordeaux, and Logan Delaurier-Chaubet's second-half red card (74') had no bearing on the result. Patience and courage were the hallmark of this performance. Patience in the first half, when the Girondins were obliged to defend robustly and await their chance. Gaëtan Poussin was tested in just the third minute, setting the tone for an early onslaught by the visitors. Aliou Badji had a promising break at the other end (18'), but two minutes later Poussin was called upon again to produce a game-changing save. Not long afterwards Josh Maja fired Bordeaux into the lead, ducking and weaving between defenders to unleash a superb strike (1-0). Barely two minutes later, Zuriko Davitashvili produced another excellent strike to double the lead. The Matmut ATLANTIQUE went wild (32', 2-0).

The second half, then, was all about courage. The Girondins had done well to make the most of the few chances they had in the first half, and they knew they would need to be very solid and disciplined to protect their lead. Sure enough, Kanoute pulled one back for the visitors just before the hour mark (59', 2-1). Sochaux felt they had the wind in their sails, but they failed to reckon with Bordeaux's strength and determination.David Guion made a double substitution in the 68th minute, with Logan Delaurier-Chaubet and Fransergio coming on for Josh Maja and Zuriko Davitashvili. Just six minutes later, Logan Delaurier-Chaubet was on his way down the tunnel after picking up a straight red card. Now a man down, the Girondins demonstrated immense resilience and team-work to see out the intense final minutes. Bravo boys, three well-earned points!
