Promising performances from the youth teams

Conditions meant that the Reserves were not able to play their scheduled fixture in Bayonne this weekend. The match will be rescheduled at a later date. The next outing for Romain Ferrier's side will be next weekend (4/5 February) in Poitiers.

What a turnaround! After losing last week in Rennes (1-0), Matthieu Chalmé's side thrashed La Roche-sur-Yon this Saturday (6-1). Marvin De Lima gave Bordeaux an early lead (12’), soon extended by David Tebili (25’). The young forward would go on to score again late in the second half (89’). Mehdi Harfi also found the net twice (51’ and 58’), with an own goal from the visitors completing the tally (74’). Next weekend will see the boys in action in the Coupe Gambardella against Chantilly.

The Excellence league kicked off this weekend, and Bordeaux started very strongly indeed in Group C with victory over Rennes CPB BY (3-1). After conceding in the 8th minute, Romain Vitry's side soon levelled thanks to a goal from Elisa Gonthier (24’). Sarah Guellil struck twice to seal the win (34’ and 77’), a strong start to the new season which puts Bordeaux top of the table alongside Guingamp and Roche-sur-Yon. Their next game will be a home clash with Orléans this Sunday 29 January.  

The U17 National team also put in an excellent performance this weekend to secure a draw at the home of league leaders Olympique de Marseille (1-1). Trailing by a goal to nil since the 22nd minute, the Girondins never stopped fighting and their efforts were rewarded when Alpha Diallo fired in a late equaliser (86’). Sylvain Blaquart's lads are now in 6th place on 25 points. Another big challenge awaits on 5 February, when they host second-placed Montpellier.
