Neither side could be faulted for their drive or determination, but play was scrappy and some of the challenges were highly questionable. The Stade Sainte-Germaine did not witness a proper chance on goal until the 36th minute, when Melissa Herrera's powerful shot beat PFC keeper Nnadozie but ricocheted back off the top corner of the woodwork! Mere seconds later, from a corner taken short, Julie Dufour again grazed Nnadozie's woodwork with a looping effort. Game on! Just before the break, Bourdieu embarked on a blazing solo run down the left wing, dribbling past 3 Bordeaux players before Delphine Chatelin intervened to prevent her from scoring (44’).

The Girondines came back firing in the second half, and Nnadozie produced two more excellent saves to deny Julie Dufour (48’, 50’).  The atmosphere fell to a stunned hush when the visitors were awarded what looked like a very generous penalty (62’). Gaëtane Thiney stepped up to take it, but Bordeaux keeper Mylène Chavas went the right way - much to the delight of the home fans. The game seemed to get better and better as it went on, with both sides flowing more freely and creating chance after chance in search of an elusive opening goal. Maëlle Garbino, Julie Dufour and Melissa Gomes combined prolifically (71’, 77’, 83’, 88’) but never quite found the opening they were looking for. In spite of the girls' best efforts, and the vocal encouragement of the crowd, this intensely-fought game ended in an unlikely stalemate. The Girondines' next game is against another side from the capital, this time Paris-Saint-Germain, on Sunday 2 April at 12:45.
