Narrowly beaten by PSG [1-0]

Taking on the team currently in 2nd place in the league, the Girondines knew they needed to put in a solid performance this afternoon. Paris Saint-Germain created the first clear chance on goal, a long shot from Baltimore which landed square on Mylène Chavas' crossbar (9’). A warning shot across the bows of the Girondines, who responded by looking for spaces down the flanks. They won a series of corners, but failed to make them count (7’, 16’ and 31’). PSG kept pushing forward, but Patrice Lair 's side held firm. Mylène Chavas and her back four were busy, but rose to the challenge admirably (24’, 27’ and 35’). Bordeaux's discipline, tactical nous and tireless efforts ensured that the hosts had nothing to show for their attacking movements, and the scoreboard remained empty at the break.

The turning point came early in the second half, when Traoré finally found a chink in the Girondines' armour (55’). PSG were reinvigorated by this goal, and pushed forward in search of a second. But Bordeaux continued to defend heroically, with Sisca Folkertsma timing her tackle to perfection (73’) and Mylène Chavas intercepting another shot moments later (75’). In the end one goal was enough to make the difference. In spite of a valiant display from the Girondines, PSG ran out 1-0 winners. The girls will be back in action in D1 on Saturday 15 April, with a home game against Soyaux at Stade Sainte-Germaine, Le Bouscat.
