Official Statement from the Club

After the tense scenes witnessed at the end of Saturday's match, FC Girondins de Bordeaux would like to take this opportunity to express our full support for Malcom BOKELE, and firmly condemn the racist abuse to which he was subjected. Thomas Jacquemier, Deputy Managing Director, had this to say:   "Whatever happens on the pitch, nothing can ever excuse racism in football. Having learned what went on after Saturday's match, the Girondins de Bordeaux reiterate our full support for Malcom Bokele and condemn the racist language and insults aimed at him. Our club is firmly committed to combatting racism and discrimination in all its forms, not least through our Cœur Girondins social outreach programme. The club is now considering the appropriate next steps to ensure that this hateful abuse does not go unpunished."
