Academy weekend round-up

For their 24th outing of the National 3 season, the Girondins Reserves travelled to Pau this Sunday where they suffered a heavy defeat. The first half ended in stalemate, but Théo Bouchlarhem hit two in the second period (51’, 66’), before Léo Lemoine put the game to bed a few minutes later (3-0, 71’).  The boys will host Aviron Bayonnais back in Bordeaux next Saturday 27 May at 18:00, at Stade Stéhélin 1.

In their final game of the season, the U19s were narrowly beaten by Guingamp.  The Girondins had got off to a promising start, taking an early lead courtesy of Alexandre Fernandes (0-1, 10’). Guingamp never gave up, and Antoine Bergot equalised in the second half (1-1, 65’). The game was balanced on a knife-edge, but ultimately it was Guingamp who had the cutting edge. They scored late on to seal the  win (2-1, 84’).  Bordeaux end the season in 7th place of Group C, with 41 points. Angers and Nantes are the two teams who progress to the play-offs.

An away trip to the Bouches-du-Rhône turned into an eventful afternoon for our U17s this Sunday 14 May.  Yanis Mohamed fired Istres into an early lead (1-0, 4’), but when team-mate Lucas Solvery was sent off for two bookings in quick succession (41’, 44’) the Girondins were suddenly back in the game. Marius Savidan finally equalised for Bordeaux (1-1, 77’), only for Jérémie Pléiade to restore the hosts' lead (2-1, 89’). Girondins striker Tom Pottier then pounced in the final seconds to equalise again (2-2, 90’). With 40 points to the name, the Girondins U17s finish the season in 5th place in Group E.
