In their 36th outing of the Ligue 2 season, the Girondins powered their way to a resounding 3-0 victory over Laval. Yoann Barbet (4'), Zuriko Davitashvili (32') and Stian Gregersen (48') got the goals, in front of an exuberant home crowd at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE.    After the final whistle, the whole team lined up on the half-way line facing the Virage Sud, waiting for captain Yoann Barbet to finish his post-match interview. He then joined the rest of the boys to charge toward the Virage and celebrate with the club's ever-loyal and vocal supporters, a moment of pure joy which encapsulated the outpouring of emotion inspired by this match. While still awaiting results from elsewhere, this win put the Girondins a healthy four points clear of Metz.

Yoann Barbet himself set the tone in the fourth minute, smashing a free-kick directly into the back of the net (1-0)! A perfect start to the afternoon for the Girondins. Meanwhile the defence was looking as well-drilled as ever with Stian Gregersen making decisive tackles (20') and Gaëtan Poussin producing a very classy save (29').   Three minutes later, Zuriko Davitashvili cut inside with devastating speed, shrugged off his marker and tipped the ball into the net for Bordeaux's second goal (32', 2-0). Then came one of the strangest spells of play seen this season, with the Girondins winning two penalties in the space of three minutes... only for Josh Maja to miss them both (43' and 45'). No matter, Josh's team-mates never stopped encouraging him and cheering him on.

Stian Gregersen effectively put the game to bed early in the second half, scoring the Grirondins' third with an unstoppable diving header (3-0, 48'). Laval did what they could to pull one back, but to no avail. The Girondins were solid, and Gaëtan Poussin was taking no prisoners between the posts (68'). As the final whistle approached, Yoann Barbet narrowly missed the target with a headed effort. But three goals were more than enough to secure three more crucial points, and put the Girondins firmly in control of the race for promotion.
