So long and thanks for everything Fran

Fransérgio is no longer a Girondins player: the final year of his contract has been annulled at the player's request. Born in October 1990 in Rondonópolis, Brazil, Fransérgio played for various clubs in his home country before turning professional with Athletico Paranaense (2009). He had stints with more Brazilian clubs in the  years 2009-2013.

In 2013 the midfielder set his sights on Europe, joining Portuguese club CS Marítimo. After four seasons, over 90 appearances and 17 goals, Sporting Braga came calling in 2017. In his four year spell at Braga he became a pillar of the team (102 appearances, 18 goals) and regularly wore the captain's armband. He also made his Europa League debut. Fransérgio moved to Bordeaux in 2021, making 25 appearances in that trickiest of seasons. The Girondins were relegated to Ligue 2, but Fran chose to stay on and help the club bounce back. A stalwart of David Guion's squad, he played a major role last season, making 35 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing one assist.

The club would like to thank Fransérgio for his two seasons here in Bordeaux. In what has been a tough time for the club, he has always shown himself to be a dedicated professional with a real sense of attachment to the Girondins.
