Gaétan Weissbeck signs for Bordeaux !

Gaétan Weissbeck is the latest addition to the Girondins squad, joining us from Sochaux-Montbéliard. He has signed a one-year loan deal with a permanent transfer clause. Born in 1997 in Wissembourg (Bas-Rhin), Gaétan started out with AS Seebach and later Haguenau. He joined the RC Strasbourg academy in 2011, at the age of 14. He rose through the ranks at the Alsace club, then in a period of reconstruction and rebirth. Gaétan never broke into the Strasbourg first team though, with the exception of one appearance in the Coupe de France in 2016-2017. He thus decided to move down a league in search of game time. At Haguenau he began to show his true potential, and Sochaux soon came calling.

Since moving to Sochaux in the summer of 2019, he has become a pillar of the first team. He has made 131 appearances in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 17 assists. Now aged 26, Gaétan arrives at Bordeaux looking to take his career to new heights. He is a technically-skilled and incisive attacking midfielder, with plenty of room to improve and mature. He also has a wealth of experience at the top end of Ligue 2. The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to welcome Gaétan, and we wish him every success in the navy blue.
