Dilane Bakwa and Junior Mwanga sign for Strasbourg

Dilane and Junior are leaving the Girondins for Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. The duo, both graduates of the Girondins Academy, have signed four-year deals with the Alsace-based club.  

Born in May 2003 in Lyon, Junior started out with Cascol Oullins FC before joining FC Lyon. Spotted by our scouts, he made the move to Bordeaux at the age of 17, starting out with the U19s before moving up to the Reserves. During the 2021-2022 season Junior became a regular fixture in the National 3 side, making 21 appearances and scoring 5 goals. These performances earned the young defender a call-up to the first team, making his Ligue 1 debut on 21 May 2022 in Brest (a 4-2 victory for Bordeaux). Last season he featured in 33 games, demonstrating his defensive solidity and knack for build-up play.

Born in August 2002 in Créteil, Dilane started out with FC Boissy and US Lusitanos Saint-Maur. He caught out scout's eye at a young age, joining the Academy in the U14 class. Having risen through the ranks with the youth teams, Dilane turned professional in July 2019. He has also represented France at U16 and U17 level, winning a total of 28 caps and scoring 5 goals. The promising young winger started training with the first team squad 2020, and also made his Ligue 1 debut on 21 May 2022 in Brest (a 4-2 victory for Bordeaux). Last season, Dilane made 36 appearances in Ligue 2, scoring 5 goals and providing 8 assists. He also featured in our 3 Coupe de France games (Stade Bordelais, Trélissac, Rennes).
