Laurine Pinot: "I'm really happy to be here in Bordeaux"

We met up with Laurine Pinot to chat about her first impressions of the Girondins and her preparations for the coming season. She told us about her footballing heroes, and the goals she has set herself for the D1 season.

Girondins.com: Hi Laurine, how are you doing? Laurine Pinot : Great thanks, I'm really happy to be at the Girondins de Bordeaux.

Girondins.com : Can you introduce yourself in a few words? Laurine Pinot : My name is Laurine Pinot, I'm 21 and I was born in Paris. I play at wing back or left wing. I started playing football when I was 9 with AS Chevilly, a little club just outside Paris. I played through the youth levels there and made it into the U19 National side. I learned a lot from those games, and I gradually established myself as a pro.

Girondins.com : How are you fitting in so far? Laurine Pinot : Really well! To start with I was on a trial, so I didn't think I would get the same kind of welcome as a proper new signing. But the girls really made me feel part of the squad during training sessions, I felt like the contract was already signed. I also know a few of the girls, like Justine Lerond.

Girondins.com :  Why did you choose the Girondins de Bordeaux ? Laurine Pinot : My family are here. When I played my first season with Soyaux, my parents had just moved to Bordeaux. From that moment, my big goal was to play professionally for the Girondins de Bordeaux. My agents got in touch with the coach, Patrice Lair. He invited me for a trial and now here I am. Girondins.com : How would you describe your style of play? Laurine Pinot : I love finding space and running onto the ball. I've also got a good left foot, which is an advantage. But I still need to work on my right foot (smiles).  Girondins.com : Who has been (or still is) your biggest footballing inspiration? Laurine Pinot : When I was younger I really liked Eugénie Le Sommer. She was someone I looked up to. The day I played against her in D1, it felt like my dreams were coming true. I'm happy that I got to play against my idol.

Girondins.com : What are your objectives for the coming season? Laurine Pinot : I think we've got a really strong, young team! I'm convinced that we can be right up there, and make the Girondins de Bordeaux one of the biggest teams in this league. Girondins.com : A message for the supporters? Laurine Pinot : I'm really happy to be here at the Girondins de Bordeaux. I'm going to give everything I've got to achieve our goals this season. I am going to be all-in, and I want you to come down to the stadium and enjoy yourselves!
