First results of the season for our youth sides

The Reserves got the new campaign off to the best possible start with a home victory! Defender, Emmanuel Biumla fired Bordeaux into an early lead (1-0, 10'), and Luc Essiena added a second shortly before half time (2-0, 44'). Thomas Dubernet pulled one back for the Basques in the second half (2-1, 66'). Erwan Lannuzel will be happy to take all 3 points from their first outing in National 3 this season. They will be looking to keep the ball rolling in Pau next Sunday 3 September 2023, kick-off at 3pm.

The U19s, meanwhile, endured a tougher start to the season with a 4-2 defeat in Angers. The Girondins went behind after a quarter of an hour (1-0, 15'), and Angers soon went two clear courtesy of Junior Ngambi Bikoi (2-0, 32'). Bordeaux fought back and swiftly reduced the deficit with a goal from Noa Megdad (2-1, 35'). The young Girondins then equalised thanks to Nfansu Njie (2-2, 52'), and were level for much of the second period. But as the end approached, Angers striker Amine Moussaoui popped up twice in quick succession to seal victory for the hosts (3-2, 83' then 4-2, 87'). A hat-trick for Moussaoui, and a 4-2 win for Angers. Bordeaux will hope to bounce back with a better result against Lorient next weekend, Saturday 2 September 2023 at 3pm.

Bordeaux's U17s secured an opening day victory against old rivals Toulouse. Marius Savidan put the Girondins into the lead in the first half (1-0, 31'), with Troy Essa Mvondo rapidly adding a second (2-0, 37'). An unfortunate Toulouse player scored an own goal to make it 3-0 after 75 minutes, but this embarrassment seemed to sting the visitors into action, and they promptly pulled one back (3-1, 80'). That was not enough to change the course of the game, and Bordeaux ran out 3-1 winners! The U17s will be on the road next weekend, travelling to face Rodez on Saturday 2 September 2023 at 3pm.
